Behaviour Management Techniques

Behaviour Management Techniques

Singing - Call and Repeat - Gaining Attention / Reducing Noise

I heard I heard an Old Man say
John-a-laka-laka To-ley-ay
To-ley-ay To-ley-oh
John-a-laka-laka To-ley-ay

Oh-a-lay-lay
Mala-tikka-tumba
Oh-a-lay-lay Malu-wey-ay

Clapping / Follow Me: Gaining Attention

Perform clapping or follow me patterns for children to follow and repeat. Continue until whole class is participating and attention gained.

Role Models / Proximal /Positive Praise

To encourage well behaved children to continue. "Role Models" will have their names put into a hat, and one drawn at the end of each day to get a sweet / treat. This can be combined with proximal / positive praise in order encourage the rest of the class to improve behaviour.

Table Points

In addition to house points (school-wide) 3JW now have "table ticks" for when a whole table is behaving correctly / being good role models. The table who gains the most amount of ticks in a week will be given the "goodies basket" the following week for use during 5 minute morning activities /Golden time etc.

5 minute morning activity

If not finishing off work (will be left in place) children are now expected to come into the classroom and get on with their 5 minute morning activities.  Each child has a booklet in their desk to fill in before the bell goes for the start of school.
