I was given the opportunity to teach the top set maths whilst their teacher was in a pupil progress meeting. We looked at adding two and three digit numbers together using a variety of methods. The children were then able to choose their preferred method to complete some sums independently. It was interesting to teach another class both in terms of attainment and behaviour. The difference in attainment between classes was almost 3 levels (1b -> 4c). I found being able to purely concentrate on the subject knowledge, rather than behaviour an interesting difference, as it meant the class was able to progress faster than my own.
