The 12 Days of Christmas

Each year, Harby School decorate a tree for the village. This year all the trees will be decorated as "songs". I organised what we would do as a school. As we have only 83 children in the school, I suggested using the 12 Days of Christmas as our theme - with each child in KS1 and KS2 making a decoration each, and the children in Reception making the remaining items between them.

Key Stage Two: "People"
Year 5/6: Drummers, Pipers and Maids = 31
Year 3/4: Lords and Ladies = 19

Key Stage One: Birds
Year 1/2: Swans, Geese, Colly Birds, and French Hens = 22
Reception: Five Gold Rings, Turtle Doves and a Partridge in a Pear Tree = 6

NB: "Five Gold Rings" is thought to have referred to five "goldspinks" (gold finches) or gold-necked pheasants.

As part of this, I also lead a whole school assembly explaining what we were going to be doing, and what each of the twelve days stood for.

Photo of Reception's tree decorations and whole tree to follow shortly!
