Best of the Blogs!

I follow several blogs, made mainly by Stay-At-Home-Mums (SAHM's) which have some great play ideas for under fives. A lot of their ideas would be perfect in the Foundation Stage and I've even managed to use some of them in Year Three! Here are my top blogs!

This is the first "learning through play" blog I found. Also on facebook and twitter, they are great at sharing their own good ideas and other blogs as well. What i particularly like about this blog is the fact that the children are now a bit older and so some of the experiments are more suited to my current Year Three class. We recently tied in their "puffy paint" recipe into our "solids and liquids" Science topic!

I found this blog through housing a forest as they are currently running a "challenge" series - challenging each other with some very creative ideas. A great place to find lots of sensory ideas. I particularly like her "glowing" series, making using of a UV back light and fluorescent paint in some really creative ways!

One of the reasons I love this blog because it is always accompanied by some great pictures of the kids enjoying the activities! However, perhaps the BEST bit of this blog is the "designing play spaces" series in which they document how they have turned various rooms into some pretty incredible places for the kids to play! Their art, Reading and Playroom would rival most school FS areas.

This blog specifically focuses on activities that target early childhood development and the posts often reflect various natural learning philosophies such as Montessori and Reggio Emilo. This site is great as all the posts are tagged and searchable under themes such as "language development" and "fine motor activities" etc.
