10th June Numeracy - Adding three numbers to make a given number. I differentiated the target by using different numbers for each ability group. Pupils then had to combine 3 or 5 darts to make a given number such as 22 or 44.
Although I modelled this on the board, I didn't give enough thought to how much maths is involved in this operation (being able to count on and count back to work out how much more you need), and therefore didn't model it as thoroughly as I could have done, which affected some pupils ability to learn. On reflection I think I could also have used lower numbers for the children to grasp the concept before giving them the bigger numbers.
